The Supercharged model is based on the later face-lifted version of the MK1 MR2, was introduced in August 1986.

Using a roots type supercharger (SC12) and a top mount intercooler, the 4A-GZE produced 145bhp and an increase in torque of around 40%. The engine is very similar to the normally aspirated 4A-GE but with the addition of lower compression pistons.

Although not officially sold in the UK, the supercharger was a popular private import.

Fensport have supplied over one hundred and fifty 4A-GZE Engine conversions to European Corolla's and MR2 MK1's.
